History
An Edge Above, Silver Puck Challenge tournament began in the summer of 2004. Brent Belanger, owner of e7 consulting, inc. and organizer of the tournament, wanted to bring a higher level of hockey tournament play to the West Michigan area. Disappointed in the way other local tournaments were being organized, he decided to the give it a try on his own. Thus, the Silver Puck Challenge was born.
Six years later the tournament is still going strong. The tournament is played at Patterson Ice Center during the first weekend of June. There has been a wide range of talent that has participated in this event. The tournament features three levels of play, an “A” bracket for professional and university skilled players, a “B+” bracket for high school and strong rec-league players, and finally a “B” bracket for average skilled rec-league players. The tournament is fun for the whole family to enjoy. The Silver Puck Challenge has featured NHL draft picks, Olympic champions, and many, many professional and university players, as well as your everyday rec-league players. The tournament has a skill level for everyone that would like to participate.
This year’s event will take place the weekend of June 4, 5, & 6, 2010. This is the sixth year for the Silver Puck Challenge and it is looking like it will be one of the best tournaments yet.
